Overview

Sala Desa Sri Hartamas stands out as a beacon for plant-based dining in Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant Desa Sri Hartamas neighborhood. Nestled in Galeria Hartamas, this vegan restaurant delivers a thoughtfully crafted menu where traditional Malaysian flavors meet innovative vegan cuisine, creating a unique and satisfying dining experience.

The highlight, without a doubt, is their take on the iconic Nasi Lemak. Their Nasi Lemak Rendang Cendawan features fragrant coconut rice paired with tender rendang-infused mushrooms and an array of sambals that elevate the dish to a new level of complexity and delight. It’s a vivid reimagination that respects the soul of the classic while embracing vegan sensibilities. Customer feedback emphasizes the nuanced balance of flavors, especially the rendang tempeh and outstanding sambal, making it a must-try for anyone curious about vegan Malaysian fare.

Beyond nasi lemak, Sala Desa’s menu showcases a variety of dishes that highlight textures and plant-based proteins creatively. The Shrooms Asada Burrito and Jackfruit Kebab Tacos marry robust, smoky flavors with fresh, vibrant accompaniments like pico de gallo and avocado. The innovative use of tempeh, tofu, and mushrooms speaks to a thoughtful approach toward protein alternatives, satisfying both long-time vegans and curious omnivores.

The space itself, situated within a bustling shopping locale, offers a casual yet welcoming atmosphere. It suits a wide audience—from health-conscious young professionals to families looking for wholesome and flavorful vegan options. The commitment to health-conscious preparation, such as minimizing added sugars and air frying rather than deep frying, appeals to diners seeking nutritious meals without sacrificing taste or indulgence.

Desserts at Sala Desa Sri Hartamas continue this theme of wholesome indulgence. Options like the peanut butter brownies and gluten-free black bean brownies delight with rich textures and flavors, while also catering to dietary preferences. These sweet treats provide a satisfying conclusion without overpowering the palate.

From the fresh, savory dishes to the carefully crafted desserts, Sala Desa Sri Hartamas delivers an experience that blends innovation with authenticity. Sala is an absolute gem for anyone who loves delicious, plant-based cuisine. Every dish is incredibly flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. especially loved the chicken burger - juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying and the crispy mushroom nuggets, which were perfectly cooked, likely in an air fryer instead of a deep fryer. What really appreciate is their attention to health: their dishes and fresh juices are made with little to no added sugar, which is rare and refreshing. Highly, highly recommended. We'll definitely be coming back!

Feedback on Sala Nasi Lemak: 10/10 Sala’s nasi lemak has reached a whole new level of vegan yumminess! The rendang tempeh was incredibly delicious and perfectly tender. The coconut rice was fragrant and tasty with just the right amount of richness. The different types of sambal completed the whole experience — truly one of the best nasi lemaks I’ve ever had.

First timer , always wanted to try vegan nasi lemak so I came here . Tempeh is soggy personally preferred crispy tempeh . Nasi is normal . For this nasi lemak I want to highlight their sambal . The sambal is really good . I think it’s better than a lot of famous brand . I would like to try their burrito for next time .

Very good vegetarian restaurant. The Chipotle Mexican "Beffy" Burger (vegetarian beef burger) and the Nasi Lemak Rendang are very tasty. Will come back to try the burrito! Google Maps may send you to the wrong side of the building (highway side).

I was blown away by their mushroom burrito, definitely one of my favourite burrito experiences, the sauce flavour complemented the excellent choice in mushrooms perfectly. The chimichanga was equally phenomenal, would highly recommend them both! I had the hello dolly southern style burger, the bun was soft, the patty, was a thin style chicken patty with great breading and fantastic mayo. The dill French fries with the sweet spicy sauce and coleslaw were fantastic too Their nourish bowls are packed with flavour and texture with a wide variety of ingredients, absolutely loved their tempeh While not a fan of the cheese sauce, the breading on the phuture popcorn chicken has an addictively salty and spicy taste to it The lemon cake was good too, moist and sugary. Cakes wise their double chocolate cake is my preferred. It's not hard to finish unlike most cakes I've had recently. The little balls on the top have a delightful texture and the icing at the back is delicious without being overwhelming. Their brownies are slightly healthier with a black bean element to them, and still manage to taste good. But the pecan slice... It was criminal how good it was it's too bad it's not a regular occurrence, never had a nut slice quite that good before highly recommend their new hericium mushroom geprek, it's the best I've had! this place was always good, since the old founder came back it's been even better :)
